I just want to point out to everyone, the majority of people were saying 'the starters look like crap' when they were shown for BOTH Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl. Yet now they're accepted and considered quite common.
More than likely people will do the same with these starters. Especially after they see their later forms and find some use for them (such as an overpowered spamming move or one who is more powerful than the other like Swampert or Infernape was in past gens). Focusing on how they look is pretty weak, especially as they'll change when they evolve.
I think the bigger news is the new design for the main characters. The girl with the cut off shorts and the wavy hair is the cutest girl they've designed yet. Too bad I've quit Pokemon so I can't appreciate it.
