The next project of the creative boss of Resident Evil 5 will be "inspired" by Heavy Rain.

Jun Takeuchi - whose Lost Planet 2 was released this month - said that he was particularly impressed with the PS3 title's "drama" and "storytelling".

Quantic Dream chief David Cage has previously claimed that the success of the leftfield Heavy Rain was a "message to the industry" - and it appears to be one that Takeuchi has listened to.

"I've always been interested in storytelling, the drama of a new game," he told the latest issue of Edge.

"If I have the opportunity of creating a new game, I'd be inspired by something like Heavy Rain - telling a story in a brand new way."

CVG revealed last week that Takeuchi had turned his back on the Resident Evil series - and would not be returning for the sixth installment.

You can read the full interview in issue 215 of Edge, which hits shelves today.

Awesome, let's hope he makes something cool then. Not that I have insanely high hopes after the stories of Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2, but still.
