Because both Wada and team lead Kitase had been hyping the game, expecting it to be the next 'Final Fantasy VII'. In other words, expecting it to sell much more than 3 million. This is why the initial shipment for the game was 2 million copies. But the game has hardly sold that many now, causing the price to deflate rapidly. Its a simple case of a company trying toover hype a game that the public wasn't going to buy that many copies of. Yes, everyone else, from the public to Famitsu expected the game to only sell around 2 million. However, SquareEnix themselves didn't expect that. Or rather...perhaps they were hoping if they kept telling everyone else it would sell more and pumped millions upon millions in advertising behind those words, it would happen. |
