I don't think I follow!
It almost sounds like you're saying that Metroid Prime 3 is a better game than Metroid Prime, and yet the fact of its acknowledged superiority doesn't meean anything because it's not as good "for its time", in spite of the fact that it would still be the best FPA in the genre right now assuming that it beat Metroid Prime! It almost soundsl ike you're assigning som kind of chronological gradient by which you allow oldr games to hold more weight while being less good simply because you had a narrower set of experiences at the time! It almost sounds like you're saying htat even if the Wii games are better, the Wii games still might not be better because worse games were better at the time (????)!
But that can't be what you are saying in seriousness, so I do not follow.
