One data point is too small to draw that conclusion, especially since the data point is Japan (where the game performed so poorly that the sequel is not released there) and where the difference is within the margin of error. Plus, when you add the HD sales together...

When you add the HD sales together you are comparing the sales of 2 platforms against the sales of one platform. That's wrong.

Also, the sales data shall get even more obvious next week.

If this game releases in America it will most likely have the same sales pattern we see in Japan but in higher numbers.

Perhaps you're correct that two shouldn't be compared to one. However, it is notable that the 360's sales of the game are nearly on par with the original's sales. And while the difference may become more exagerrated with time (unlikely since the Wii's sales were capped by a low shipment), that would make this discussion premature. It's certainly far too early to speak of the Western figures, since all we have right now is speculation. An opponent's statement that "hardcore games sell better on the HD consoles, therefore No More Heroes HD will sell better" is currently as valid a point at this junction.
