Also they are hypocritical as hell. They grunt and rant about other games not redefining the genre and deduct MAJOR points for it. But because this is Mario it is all of a sudden alright?

...My answer is that they are a shit magazine who shall not be trusted.

Edge usually reserves 10s for definitive games yes, but why are you so sure that Galaxy 2 doesn't actually qualify for that?

Anyway, for those curious here's all the EDGE 10s... like Famitsu, they seem to be handing them out a lot more frequently in recent years...

[N64] Super Mario 64 (1996) Nintendo
[PS] Gran Turismo: The Real Driving Simulator (1997) SCE / Polyphony Digital
[N64] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) Nintendo
[XB] Halo: Combat Evolved (2001) Microsoft / Bungie Software
[PC] Half-Life 2 (2004) Valve
[360] Halo 3 (2007) Microsoft / Bungie Software
[360] The Orange Box (2007) EA / Valve (also on PC/PS3)
[Wii] Super Mario Galaxy (2007) Nintendo
[360] Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) Rockstar / Rockstar North (also on PS3)
[PS3] LittleBig Planet (2008) SCE / Media Molecule
[360] Bayonetta (2010) Sega / Platinum Games (also on PS3)
[Wii] Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010) Nintendo

...and their "almost" 10s (9s that were so close they felt them worth mentioning)...

[N64] Goldeneye 007 (1997) Nintendo /Rare
[GC] Resident Evil 4 (2005) Capcom

...speaking of Famitsu, I wonder if they're the next perfect score (40/40)?
