Hmm, mine doesn't make much noise other than creaking a while after I start it and after I turn it off (plastic heating and cooling no doubt). I have a slim though. What I have noticed is that the machine makes an awful lot of noise when playing older games with high hardware demands (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the worst) so it seems that the Blu-ray drive is on the loud side.
