Theres certainly some evidence to support this theory. Look at the relativly good sales of Monster Hunter tri so far. More than half of the games content is excluisve to online modes. It could be argued that MH3 is the first AAA Wii game in a while (first 3rd party one anyway), and that the quality is the cause of the strong sales.
