Loads for me on an iPhone 3GS. Takes its sweet time, because it's VGC, but it loads. Including the Gamer Print ads.
You could try downloading Opera Mini from the app store. It tends to be a little faster than Safari, but there are trade-offs in that the UI isn't as good, pages don't render quite right, and your browsing traffic is routed through Opera's servers.
Edit: I turned on debug and loaded Hot Topics. Got about a dozen errors. Messy!
