1) Always put blocking above evading. Nevertheless, the sidestep can be very helpful in smaller wyverns that rush you (works just fine with Kurupeko and Ratian - hit three times, 2 sidesteps)
2) Avoid charging; it consumes weapon sharpness while doing sub par damage
3) Online, you're the person that focuses on hitting specific spots. Break Kurupeco's flintstones, wound Lagia's chest (all except cutting tails - that falls to the GS)
4) Learn the advace - 3 hit technique (it's displayed in the manual itself). Very useful on strong enemies like Barroth.
5) Try to seathe your weapon, get to the back of the wyvern, 3 hits - one backstep - 3 hits - sidestep - seathe.
6) Be careful when charging / side slashing. You can do some serious damage to your allies (get them stunned in the wyvern's face)

Unfortunately, a Fire Lance is made from Rathalos parts, which I have yet to slay... I'll try with paralyze :-/
