Don't try to downplay this. No one expected it.

Probably because no one thought about it logically. I never really gave it any thought prior to now so I had no specific expectations. But if you applied some rationality to it you probably would expect Peace Walker to do as well or better on day 1 than MGS4. It's an iconic franchise associated with the Playstation brand and it's the first MGS entry on PSP. There's gotta be plenty of cross ownership between PS2 MGS fans and PSP and PS3 MGS4 owners. etc etc.

It's definitely not the first Metal Gear game on the PSP. Maybe if you're talking mainline game (as all the other mainline games were on consoles), but there has been Metal Gear Acid, Metal Gear Acid 2, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus before this recent Peace Walker release.
