I know that it wasn't about the money why these games were made/not made, but it certainly will become a factor in the future. Miyamoto didn't make 2D Mario anymore because he had made those games before and 3D Mario is made because he wants to do that. Good thing is that Iwata already told him to make more 2D Mario in the future, whether he likes it or not.
Btw, pumping out a sequel to NSMB Wii in such a short time would make them less money in the end. Such big series have to be handled with great care, if there are too many games in a too short time frame they become a commodity and people start to lose interest.

'Know I know. I was showing you that Galaxy 2 is simply the continuation of many great ideas that came out of the mind of the developers that they couldn't put in the first game because probably it had gone gold.
You didn't like Galaxy?

I liked Galaxy and getting the sequel on first day. The problem is that I'd rather see a Nintendo series not yet present on the Wii than another 3D Mario. The same goes for Metroid: Other M.

So you're waiting for a new IP? Yeah, that would be cool. Nintendo proved new IPs can be successful (Pikmin) although they had a small userbase with the GC.
Or something like Donkey Kong or Eternal Darkness 2?
