Not exactly super customer support all in all but you can't directly or indirectly blame Sony for your dog dying or the fact that you neglected to take a backup of anything.
I have my most important documents and pictures backed up three drives and disc.
Why would you stop buying their products because a person on the phone couldn't do exactly as you wanted? They have rules and procedures like everyone else I suppose.
