I hated Shimomura's work in KH1 (not played 2 yet)

but Mitsuda is really really really good so thats great!

I will make attempts to resist saying Uematsu is the best in this thread!

No ... Koji Kondo is the best ... also the girl i forgot her name now , that work with him in super mario galaxy also rocks ...

Comparing Kondo to Mitsuda/Uematsu is like comparing The Yardbirds to Led Zeppelin.

Its not fair to bring up Koji Kondo, because he's one of the godfathers of Video Game Music.  Just like you can't bring up Koichi Sugiyama when trying to talk about Nobuo Uematsu or Yasunori Mitsuda, because he supersedes them and influenced them.

You didn't get my comparison, Yardbirds->Zeppelin is the exact same thing in regards to Hard Rock when comparing Kondo to Uematsu.

Maybe The Beatles -> Queen is the better example (for me at least, I think that Queen is a much better band than The Beatles).

Well, obviously I didn't get the comparison, both because I was focusing on what Shonen said and because I don't know who the 'Yardbirds' are.  Sorry.

But I agree, about what you said about Queen.  Despite that fact however, and my personal opinion of the Beatles aside, the Beatles did start the 'Rock Revolution'.  It just was in my opinion a different revolution than people give them credit for.  In effect, they started the first 'pop' and 'boy band' revolutions.  Which tons of bands soon followed.  And an entire genre of music then was created to 'counter'.  So in that way, the Beatles were 'bigger' than Queen or really any other Rock band...but at what cost.  I mean, they even tried to counter their own music.

That page of history behind us however...my comment before was just reaffirming the fact that there's certain composers who came before Uematsu and Mitsuda who stand alone in the gaming industry and set the standard.  And Koji Kondo was one of them.  And the big insperation for Uematsu and Mitsuda was Koichi Sugiyama.
