Sony’s new motion control device will allure the core market, says Cohort CEO

Keep dreaming.  At best, both Move and Natal will be seen as a toy.  Even moreso than the Wii was.  Frankly, the same people who would want Natal or Move would be those who would be interested in the Wii.  And that's why MS and Sony made the thing.  This notion that 'core' gamers are suddenly going to jump into the 'casual' scene just because MS and Sony are making motion control devices is as convoluted as thinking 'core' gamers would buy a Wii because games like 'The Conduit' and 'Madworld' were on it.

If 'core' gamers didn't want motion controls before, they sure wouldn't want to buy a controller with a big bright red orb and less games.

I'm hardcore and i don't see the Move or Natal as a Toy. Move is far more powerful than the Wii and far more intuitive. It can be used to create more in depth titles that core gamers can fall into much like they would using a traditional controller, except they are using their body. With Natal...they can use their whole body, but how it will work....only the future can tell. The move has already shown how it can set itself apart from the Wii and be seen as more mature. It will take more work to get a handle on the move than the Wii because now you will have to be more precise. Sony was never good with casuals, so I could care less, but Natal will definitely draw in more casuals not because of price, but because of the fact that there is no controller pad at all and you can have recognition of multiple people without a controller.

The Move hasn't defined itself yet at all.  In fact, in all its demos, people have either considered it a joke or come away unimpressed.  Mostly because we only see a group of guys wiggling a big glow stick at a screen with beta tech demos.  In short, there's no solid games for it.  Its hard to 'define' a product when its still in development.

As for Natal, its being pumped with a Halo level of marketing, but its still going to have the same problem as Move.  Everything is going to depend on the games.  And do you really think, no matter how original people think the 'tech' is, that people will be as 'amazed' by it this time around like they were with the Wii?  And, more importantly, do you think it'll have some 'killer app' like WiiSports right out of the gate?  I don't think both of those are going to happen at the same time.  Plus, there's the problem that people will have to go out and BUY Natal as an extra accessory to their existing console, unlike with the Wii, it WAS the Console.  'Hardcore' people are quite fine shelling out 50-60 bucks for a game...but not so much 120 bucks for accessories to PLAY games.  That's more of a 'casual' trend on stuff like oh...Rock Band, WiiFit and DDR.

oh really this guy does not think ps move is a joke and he was so impressed he wanted to take it home, carry on being in denial tho

also he actually is moving the controller properly rather than waggling it as you suggested, that is so wiimote style (before wm+)

One over-enthusiastic British guy doesn't override all the other comments I've seen from stuff like IGN, Gametrailers and the general public.

Edit: And as for 'not waggling it', I don't know what you're talking about.  He's jumping all over the place and thrusting around like crazy.  Especially with that game that looks like a total knock off of WiiSports Resort (the Sword Slashing game).

funny because the other video i posted was positive feedback as well, there has been next to no negativitey, the only thing they have said is that it is nothing new, big deal, but they also have pointed out the strides that sony has made to make the experience better, my point is wiimote should have had this kind of control from the start they let me down they was going to get my $$ for the add-on which made it come true, now ps move comes along and it fufils that promise and then some more, it alos tracks upper body movements (ala natal style)

it's the future of handheld
