My guess for the delay
Their first plan for the end of year is not going to work out as planned.
Game is getting more polished and has set it back further for everyone
They want to be able to focus more on the series. Releasing it around Sin and Punishment 2 and Super Mario Galaxy "might" have hurt its sales, or the other way around.
Wouldnt you rather get the Nintendo standard than it being a bit rushed to the market?
