I've heard (mayberumours?) that Nintendo will be releasing their new 3DS handheld later this year, and this has prompted me to wonder a few things about the new handheld.

1.) How much do you think Nintendo 3DS will cost on its release day? 200 or thereabouts. I think Nintendo's seen Sony's mistake in PSPGo pricing at the very least which would dissuade them from pushing beyond that. More = 300

2.) I really like the fact that DSI XL has large screens for a handheld. Do you think 3DS will keep the larger screens? Not that large, no. Apple's long bettery life will serve a lesson i think.

3.) Do yu think that some of the big DS games on the way like Okamiden and Golden Sun 3 will be further enhanced or optimized for 3DS? I think a game like Okamiden could take advantage of a 3d world. Doubtlessly some of them will, but not all. I would question Golden Sun 3 even coming for DS at this point, but who knows.

4. Will 3DS be compatable will all previous DS games? Wouldn't see why not. At least in the launch models, Nintendo's never gone without at least 1 generation of backwards compatibility in a handeld.

5. Do you expect connectivity between 3DS and Wii to be one of its features? I think connectivity was one of the best features of GC and GBA, and I'm not sure, but I think that kind of connectivity has been missing from the DS and Wii so far. Doubt it. That'll be the N6's job. There will def. be networking of some description. Now the graphics are almost comparable between the two.

Im lazy, decided to do edits.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
