Wait, why are people still using floppy's in 2010 in the first place?

many electrical/system engineers would still use them with slightly older equipment. Almost all our oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers can write data to a floppy disc. We also have networked versions so we don't use floppys, but I can see why they would still be in use.

All the way until I think 2-3 years ago, my mom still had to use Floppy Disks and ancient word processing systems from around 1990 all based around the legal system.  They didn't even support Microsoft Word and were still using a DOS interface.  It wasn't until very recently they switched over to Microsoft Word and Windows.

I know many companies use old and outdated systems and they just shouldn't be.  I did IT for a company years and years ago and they used old outdated machines, OS, hardware, ect and it just made more work for everybody.

There's saving money and there's being stubborn.  At some point you just have to upgrade.
