I wonder how close E3 and Natal release to the general public are going to come. Perhaps Microsoft will try to ride the wave of interest after E3 and set the release date up 2-8 weeks after E3?

Thats July -> Mid August timespan.

They've said 'Holiday 2010' quite a few times though, besides I'm sure they'll drum up plenty more interest through mainstream advertising in the lead up to the launch than any E3 hype could provide.

It depends though... They need good worth of mouth, good retail support and time to deal with any potential shortages if it proves popular. People will probably want to see it with their own eyes before they make a decision, a large advertising campaign probably won't cut it. Its about timing, but I can't say when would be the best.

The more front loaded a product the closer it can be released before Christmas whilst the products which aren't as front loaded ought to be released a little further back to build up that critical momentum. Obviously December is too late, November I might say could be too late as well so they will probably be releasing it either in September or before which is about as far as im willing to go about speculating their release dates.

Yes people will need to see it, but they have probably two years to sell Natal before the 720 is released. I'm pretty sure Microsoft will want to imitate the launch of Wii as closely as possible. We'll see soon enough either way.
