The RSX can perform 1.8 TFLOPS (trillion floating point operations per second) and 74.8 billion shader operations per second (100 billion with Cell).

The Xenos can perform about 1 TFLOP and 48 billion shader operations per second. (Due to the way Microsoft worded things, this spec is most often presented wrongly, people don't read Microsoft's PR closely enough or perform wishful reading)

But actually the GFlops of both CPUs are more relevant as they can be used for a lot more (flexible). Basically the PS3 Cell sports eight 3.2 Ghz processors and the 360 three 3.2 Ghz processors, which translates well to the performance ratio the PS3 has).

- The Cell due to the way it's structured is much more efficient than the Xenon.
- The 360's GPU an CPU have to battle it out for bandwidth, this is not the case for the RSX/Cell, the Cell has its own dedicated much faster main RAM to work with.
- The amount of EDRam in the XBox 360 is too small to work with without tiling in high definition resolutions.

These are some key points why various PS3 games look so much better than anything found on the XBox 360. Additional factors are of course Blu-Ray/default harddrive.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."
