Outside of the story, I like the customization of characters.

Unless your playing an RPG, there is very rarely a game that comes close to most RPGs when it comes to a selection of things you can do to make your character awesome.

Also, gameplay is usually upto the person. I enjoy the tactical nature of RPGs and SRPGs. I also like the combat in a few WRPGs as well. Fallout 3 has some of the best 'OMG AWESOME' moments of gunfighting in almost any game.

Outside of a few simulation/strategy games, RPGs are my favorite. If you prefer your games to be single player, they usually exceed most other genres by dozens in hours in terms of lengths and content.

Also, the worlds crafted in RPGs are usually better constructed than 90% of non-RPGs. For example, the worlds in Mass Effect and Fallout are without comparison.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
