Samus's original appearance wasn't an anime blonde at all. Firstly, she wasn't depicted in the anime style until Metroid Fusion - she wasn't even blonde in most of the games up to that point.
And of course they don't look exactly like Nintendo's Samus, most of the time Samus would be making expressions like that her helmet is on
