ok ADDING, Opa just so you know I had the same sentiments, but decided I couldn't wait.
If you've got the skills you could go on naked.
Seriously, I went on with just hunter gear and I did fine, only at HR 8 did I upgrade to my now missing one piece set of Ludroth.
I'm seriously frustrated over how people like to die online though, I have my fair share of close calls but haven't died yet.
Anyway my only recommendation before going online is that you have full hunter gear, a weapon with yellow sharpness and over 250 damage.
If your using a 1h sword then around 160 damage is fine.
