I imagine if Nintendo tried to keep the Red Ocean going, complete with more complicated controllers, and just focusing on graphics, they would of ended up losing their shirt, and being forced out of the home market. I don't think that would work.
As far as I am concerned, I am glad Nintendo did what it did, as it gives me a reason to own a Wii.
