Yes, we are reading it the same way you do. What i would suggest to Kojima, would be that he'd try to "get" what people wanted and make a game based on that. I don't think we need more games that the gamers need to "get" in order to enjoy the game. Besides, haven't Kojima been making his "possibly last games" for ages already.

That was what was confusing me, he's not saying that here (unlike the previous times). He's saying he might be forced out.

Yeah, but the point still stands. If i'm not mistaken, nobody is forcing Kojima to make the game.
