Mass Effect 1 & 2 are actually 2 games that I think deal with length quite well. It's possible to complete ME1 in about 10-12 hrs, but if you want the full experience you can do all the side quests and take as much time as you want. ME2 is similar, the main story length depends how many loyalty missions you want to do.
