I'd agree with you that this site doesn't copy NPD but doesn't act in a void, but... one of the most common comments I get is that since the NPD data was so and so we'll see adjustments soon. And it only very rarely happens. I haven't checked NPD data this month, and I haven't hear any comparisons to the VGChartz data either, so I'm not really in a position to give an assessment of the probability of adjustments, but based on the very anecdotal evidence provided by the comments in this thread, Americas adjustments seem just as likely after an NPD comment as any other time.
And Americas adjustments seem to come in lumps, not continous streams as Japan or Other adjustments does.
