Quality doesn't always affect sales, but sometimes it does. I think this is one of the cases where it has. I've talked to a lot of people who have played and enjoyed FFs in the past but who have no intention of buying XIII. They all say the same thing: I hear it's not very good, I hear they took out towns, I saw a stupid commercial with some chick singing.

XIII has a really bad reputation. It's partly reviews, partly the fact that the game has alienated a lot of more tuned-in fans who then badmouth it to their friends. Whatever it is, it's a major problem for Squenix, and they're going to need to make sure it doesn't happen again.

See, some of my friends think it's the best final fantasy since FF8. So, I don't see you your friends > my friends.

Most of the peopel I talked to was excited of it because of the bad perception of 12

and I will agree the reviews were lower

But also to attribute is JRPG sales have been lacking this generation as well.

But month 1 FF13 is the highest grossing FF ever. Month 2 I think it will drop off considerably and won't reach 10 or 7 levels. I don't see why at a minimum it wouldn't reach 9 and 12 levels when price drops come into effect etc.
