If you can't find quality Wii games at brick and mortar, try online shopping. Especially when Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop offer free shipping these days and have great selections online, online shopping is very worth it these days. If you still can't find what you are looking for from those merchants, theres always ebay and what not. I have yet to have encountered any problems yet with finding games that I want after acquaintaining myself with online shopping 7+ years ago. There are literally hundreds of games on the Wii, I don't see how you can't find at least a dozen games that would fit with your interests. The same goes for the 360, PS3, DS and PSP. Unless you really need the money for something else, I wouldn't advise him on selling the Wii. Especially with all the jrpgs coming out for it and his interest in the genre. Unless he only wants to play in HD.

There are heap's of games I'd love to buy on the Wii, but I don't like online shopping and the effort to find the specific games I want is a nuisance considering it's much easier to buy games for my other consoles. I don't know if it's Nintendo's fault or the retailers, but the Wii games that I do find are far to expensive, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl are all at launch price l in Australia. The Wii isn't for everyone and despite what many may think, it is a casual console drowned in shovelware, it's sad but true.
Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
