Another funny note:

FFXIII PS3 - 828.8k
BC2 360 - 825.5k

FFXIII 360 - 493.9
BC2 PS3 - 451.2

Definitely drives home the point of what type of gamer owns each console in North America.

Considering the BC2 ratio is larger than the FFXIII one, would those who say that Versus XIII should be exclusive say the same in the opposite direction should there be a Bad Company 3?

Not to defend those making such claims, but keep in mind this is for America only.  Both FFXIII and BC2 are selling better on ps3 in Europe and Japan.

Worldwide the gap for FFXIII is 3.29:1 in favor of ps3.  Right around 4:1 if NPD's figures are more accurate than ours.  BC2 is only 1.55:1 in favor of 360.

That ratio is useless though, because it was only on PS3 in Japan, and there's no way it would have any bearing on whether Versus XIII went to the X360.

Whereas we should all be focusing on the figures of a single territory?

If you're asking me if I believe it would be a more valid and userful comparison than bringing in a territory where only one version was released? Um, yeah.

North America isn't the only territory where it released on the X360.

In all likelihood the lack of a Japanese release has not impacted the 360 version's total sales in a meaningful way, hence why it remained exclusive (most likely to allow for an earlier release over the Japanese winter holiday).

Ultimately, both Square and EA make their decisions based on worldwide sales, which is presumably why XIII went multiplat, given the 360's global install base.

Worldwide sales are always the best barometer in situations such as this.  Focusing solely on North America would be like looking only at Japan and saying Western publishers should support ps3 because their games sell 2:1 in favor of ps3, despite that region being a small part of a much larger picture.
