Blizz is already doing this with Starcraft 2 campaigns in 3 parts. I really no one else follows.

But Blizzard games have already been divided into episodes since the beginning of time, not to mention that Starcraft 2's multiplayer will still have all of the units for the Protoss and the Zerg.

And anyway, you can't really make a very good, episodic game story.

Going by current episodic games or is that just something you know?

Going by the fact that it is incredibly hard to make a complex story like that, let's say that there are detalis that emerge in the first game and are supposed to be revealed in the last chapter, let's take two years  per game, can someone remember everything from game one for four years?

Seems we have wildly different ideas of what an episode would be. I'm imagining something that is 1-2 hours long, and one "game" might be 12 episodes or so that are released over half a year. The game and story would be designed with this structure in mind, and I think it's very much possible to get it right. It's still pretty new though, the only game I can think of that is designed this way is Siren: Blood Curse, and that didn't work out too well I think.

There is still some progress before we can get it right, but I think it has potential. Not that it should replace what we have now, just add a different model for contructing a game and give us more choices.
