For a while now I thought the idea of Monster Hunter was good. Hunt Monsters. Then I heard stuff about it. Like slow weapons, bad camera control, grinding.... and decided to pass. Well I got Freedom Unite on the cheap for a what the hell The Wii version looks interesting.

Holy damnd shit and hell the game is friggentastic. The slow weapons and no auto target make the game all that much better. Dying is damnd awesome, becuase you need to actually try to win. The Mastery of the this game is that the game is a beast to play unless you have allies and even then that makes things harder. I soloed Giadrome with out tooooo much of a problem, but when I went with a second person. Damnd to hell. Yes hitting was easier, but the creature was threated. it was running to different zones calling out for help. It's the first darn boss and it's being a pain int he ass. The Bulldrom was even worse. I've barely scratched the surface of Unite and already starting to see the big pattern of scope to this game.

Monster Hunter by description is very off putting. It doesn't have much story, the controls are clunky.......... but the charm is in the thrill of the victory. Seriously is a game really a game when all you have to do is click one button and yawn to win? The point of any game is the thrill of victory. If there is no thrill then it's not a game it's entertainment. Yes entertainment is awesome I will still play Crisis Core for entertainment, but over all it's not much of a game. Sorry for the cheap shot there.

I'm not bording on this game. My wife is interested in Tri which is a shock since she is more a PC gamer than a Console gamer these days.

I do have three complaints though. The camera engine is fine, but the over all intutitiveness could be fixed.

Camera Control is Left Right Shoulder buttons. Left Tap is the same.
Item Select is left/right Digital.(yes I know that up/down will still be camera and that's wierd).

More conformity with buttons. It's wierd that "X" talks, "[]" interacts, "O" action/cancel.

Syncing the little guys. This is a PAIN ins the arse. Non bosses don't sync. I don't know why. It's pretty lame that they don't, but they should. The worse part is that apparently the Wii version does not improve this despite the increase in power over previous MH games. It's just frustrating to want to help you ally, but the mini monsters aren't doing what they are supposed to.

I'm hoping MHP3 will fix that. As well as the next Wii version. I don't by every itteration of a game. So I will buy Tri and the next one that will offer synced monsters.

Monster Hunter is a must buy game for anyone gamer who likes melee fighting in there games. Obviously if you just like puzzles or FPS, fitnesss. then fine avoid it, but if you like action MH is a MUST. The more the merrier too. BTW, on PC MHTri would be considered a Mini MMO. It offers a central hub for thousands of people to meat(yes I know they are lobbies), but the centralized network to connect people is the massive part. So while Tri is not an MMO in sense of WoW. It is it's own variation.

23 is taking WAY TOO LONG.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
