Second off, neither are more advanced. They're both really damn simplified from even the earliest RPGs (like Dungeons & Dragons). I mean...what's so sophisticated about most WRPGs? Mass Effect 2 is really one of the only WRPGs that's doing anything significant for the genre.

Mass Effect 2 has done nothing significant for WRPGs. If removing RPG elements in favor of more action is advancement then I hope we stagnate in the past.

It focuses on dialogue and interaction rather than a myriad of sidequests.

How does it focus more on dialougue and Interaction in relation to games like Planescape: Torment or Fallout 1 and 2? In Earlier WRPGs it's completely possible (if very difficult) to finish the game without killing anybody at all completely through dialogue, something that is not possible in Mass Effect.

Dialogue was a big part of the games in ME2, but it was limited to your immediate crew. It pushed for a greater emotional investment from players, some of which was not possible in older games due to tech limitations. The emphasis was far more on the individual story's of your party and required you to become more invested than I would in Fallout 1 & 2... arguable in Planescape because of the quality of nameless one's story.
