Whether Kojima or the fans are more responsible for ruining MGS, I cannot say. It's true that Kojima could have greatly improved the series at any time simply by ending it (or, best of all, by not turning it into a series at all, by simply stopping after MGS1), and it's true that his choice not to makes him perhaps the most directly responsible for the series' downfall. But can the fans who kept on screaming for moar, regardless of whether or not moar would actually improve things, really be held blameless? They're the ones who placed the dollar signs in front of Kojima's eyes, and while Kojima can and should be blamed for not turning away from them, surely we should not forget the ones who kept on putting them there.
