Why? Because MGS2 has much of what made MGS1 great and even a better story. MGS1 might be more balanced as a whole but I still prefer MGS2. MGS3, in my opinion, took the series in a bad direction, as good as it was as a game, and that's why it's so far behind the first two. MGS4 had some horrible story solutions. And Portable Ops, well, I haven't played it very far yet due to its terrible camera...
