I thinks that's just wishful thinking, sorry !

1. IBM just announced its "intentions" to introduce 32 nm in 2009/2010!
It could take ages before it reaches mass market or even the xbox 360 !
Remember the slow transition to 65 nm ?

2. IBM doesn't fabricate the Xenon, it's been manufactured at "third party plants", like chartered semiconducters.
They tippically lag behind in fabrication technology.

3. It's doubtfull to skip 45 nm. The technology for 45 nm processing has just been established.
The ability to manufacture in 32 nm is still unproven.

btw.
The Xenos is still manufactured in 90 nm, i would shrink that first.

1. It's 2H 2009, and it's public release for beginning fabrication.

2. Chartered is on the "share" list.

3. 45nm may be stable for Intel, but no other company is likely to achieve it until mid-2008, even IBM. It makes sense to delay a year, or even quickly jump from 65nm -> 45nm -> 32nm.

Extra point: Finally, a merger of Intel's high-k metal gate and AMD's Silicon-on-Insulator processes!
