they are talking about buying everything separately. And probably an MP3 payer thats an Ipod. The overall price they give makes sense for what your getting if you are stupid enough to buy everything separately. Then again, I own a $399 5-disc CD player so just my CD player alone = the price of the PS3 so adding in the price of my ipod, dvd player, and (dont own) Samsung's standalone Blu-ray player which is $270 that would make it so that when I bought my PS3 at $599 I still spend more on everything else's prices combined.
