sigh, here we go... people who are moaning about linux removal are being a bit short sighted, if they can't see Sony did this to protect us all from hackers, then they are truly blinded, if you like spyware, viruses and having personal information stolen way to go for you.
I think GeoHotz should pay this bill, Go Sony!!

Spyware, viruses, personal information?

No offense, but do you have any clue what will happen if the PS3 is hacked?

At most you'll see HDD loading, USB loading, custom firmware and tons of homebrew. Nothing of any sort that effects any of us here when we play our games, just as how it doesn't effect me, you or anyone here when they play their DS, 360, Wii, PS2, GC, PS1, XBox, PSP, etc...

We will end up getting a feature similar to what the 360 has now with the game installations, only differences being that once it is installed you no longer need to use the disc and/or put wear and tear on your BD drive.

I would say that benefits me, not hurt me.

lol i know most people will do piracy via custom firmware, but I advise against custom firmware it will open the doors to worse things as to what I mentioned, again my view is the worst case scenario, but do not under-estimate hackers, they are the scum of the internet

Trust me, if it was going to happen it would have happened at least once in the last decade or so.

I on the other hand support custom firmare. Do you have a PSP? If you do and if you enjoy many of those great features it has, you should go ahead and thank those hackers you despise so much because most of those features were implemented by hackers first and later added in by Sony to try and get people to update back to official firmware.

Hackers cause Sony to add more just to keep up with them.

lol yeah using blu-ray medium will take a long time(with piracy), but what if they find a way to store and mount images via hard drive, as with the wii, yes you will need a huge hard drive, but that option would make it more accesible to many more people, why am I giving people ideas???

and yes I know about CFW on PSP, lol I never used it on my PSP, I have bought all my PSP games and don't need CFW, but I must admit they have made some very nice apps for it, but to be honest I don't trust CFW lol.

CFW won't do anything negative to your PSP, it just opens it up to homebrew and the ability to play your PS1 titles on the PS1 without needing to repurchase them, which is what I do with it.

It is also how you got your internet radio, Internet browser, RSS, .avi support, etc...

Anyways, don't worry about George Hotz or any other "hacker" since their actions won't effect your games at all, just like how it hasn't effected the 360 users games and the 360 has been hacked for years now.
