Don't forget that PS3 has had, what two price drops in Japan to get to this level? The Wii baseline is partially based on the 20,000 Yen price point.

Don't forget a major redesign/rebranding, multiple colors and hardware bundles for like every semi-big game.  Wii and 360 have done the latter two as well, but not near to the same degree.  Sony really does EVERYTHING they can to get the collectors to keep dipping...

Don't forget the fact the Wii is $100 cheaper than the PS3 in japan

True, but Japan's also the least historically price sensitive territory.  PS2 sold dramatically better at comparable and higher pricepoints than PS3 has, and that gets even more aggravated when you adjust for inflation.  DS has far outpaced GBA at higher pricepoints too, same for Wii and GameCube.

Price hasn't been PS3's issue in Japan for the most part, it's was more a debilitating factor in the west.

Really? So your telling me had hte PS3 still been $600 it would sell 5Million consoles from launch to today

Well, no.  What I'm telling you is if it was priced exactly like PS2, it still wouldn't have sold as well as PS2.  And really, it hasn't even been that much more expensive than PS2.  The farthest they were apart was at launch, which inflation adjusted for today was $540 for PS2 and $576 for PS3.  You're looking at a less than $50 price difference in real world money, pricepoint was NOT PS3's issue in Japan...
