Thought I'd give the series a chance to redeem itself, sometimes sequels are a lot better than original, like Neverwinter Nights 2 and Baldur's gate 2 and Half-Life 2. Of course, in this case I was wrong and I made the same mistake with Crysis and Crysis Warhead. You didn't like them either? I simply cannot get myself to enjoy them at all, too grey, repetetive, enclosed, incredibly predictable ripped off "horror" elements, cheap trick AI (look, let's surround the player in a cutscene) and gimmicky gameplay (slow motion was done 100 times better in Max Payne). The shooting part has nothing in games such as Half-Life 2 or Modern Warfare and if you want a scary game go play Condemned (both of them). I know the majority disagrees but this is how I feel at least. |
I thought the first was good. Not brilliant and it definately had it's drawbacks but fun enough for me to playthrough and enjoy. But, yeah, the best bits had been done before and better in other games. I think the original was released at about the right time as Japanese horror films with scary little girls were big back then.
The sequel on the other hand... I completed it, but it just wasn't good enough.
