I hate Apple with a passion. It breaks my heart that the iPhone is beating the PSP software revenue wise now. I don't own a PSP but the PSP has a vastly superior library compared to the iPhone (which I don't own either. I don't believe I own anything from Apple). How many worthwhile retail-sized videogames do they have on the iPhone really? They have that Square-Enix rpg coming out. But stuff like the SF4 port and Mirror's Edge. Those are just watered down ports from the consoles. I have zero interest in an iPhone or iPod Touch. An unlocked iPhone (or Blackberry for that matter) costs a fortune and there's no way I'd sign a contract with a cell company. I already have a landline and I spend about $7/month for pre-paid (and that's more than enough for me!) and I'd like to keep my cellphone expenses that low thank you very much (unless I absolutely need a Blackberry for work or something some day). And the iPod Touch would be completely useless to me except for the iPhone games (it can play the same iPhone games right?). Because if I want to listen to music, I have my Sansa Clip. And I have no interest in watching video on the go. If I had to choose between a iPod Touch or a PSP, I'd clearly go with the PSP.
That all said, I understand why the iPhone is beating the PSP. Carrying a cell phone and a dedicated gaming handheld with you is a hassle. It's much more convenient to just bring your cell phone (iPhone) and play the games they have for it. So even though the PSP is a superior gaming device, it gets lost in the shuffle because of this. And then there's the whole piracy issue. lol.
