I actually believe it will likely happen... but only when it isnt so important, ie after the start of the next gen. 

Sony will skip the startof the next gen I think to regain some kudos and momentum, thus saving some cash and making some profits on a (by then) cheap to produce PS3

So next xbox and next wii launch first... then a couple of years later the next playstation launches.

Sony fans will say... see.. told you PS3 would outslell 360 (!?)...  360 fans will say... it doesnt count any more I'm playing my 720 or whatever its called.

I agree that the ps3 will outsell the xbox eventually like you said, just out of curiosity what year do you think it will happen? late 2012 is when I expect it to, maybe early 2013.

probably by the end of the first year after the next gen starts... 

But what side do you stand on? I mean, if PS3 does in fact end up outselling 360......then how could anyone deny that it doesn't count? I mean, I don't care what I'm playing right now, if Gamecube suddenly outsold the original Xbox today...it would still count.

BTW I honestly don't see MS letting Sony just nab a 8 million + lead from them (I'm refferring to the peak of the gap)
