I don't think it's anti-American sentiment in the political sense, per se. But American-made products certainly don't have the cachet that Japanese-made products do: in France at least, and probably in other countries, they're viewed as being cheaply-made and compromised by cost-cutting. So when your average French or German gamer sees reports that the 360 has serious reliability problems it'll greatly impact his willingness to buy the product because it confirms what he already thinks about American-made hardware: that it's shit.
