Its the week before Christmas and the Xbox 360 has 12 titles in the top 40 vs 6 titles for the PS3. This does support the userbase argument.

That's fair enough, as I said I don't trust console sales for install bases considering the failure rates of the 360. Game sales figures give a much better look at what consoles people have and what consoles people are buying software for.

All consoles have a failure rate and all consoles have a certain % of people who are disinterested after purchase for whatever reason. In addition to this they all have a product life-cycle. If the Xbox 360 is a year ahead on average then the people purchasing software are going to be a year ahead in terms of growing disinterest in purchasing new titles.

lol wait wha? How the hell did you come up with that theory? :D Growing disinterest for a certain product over a products life cycle is true. But it does not effect the new software. For example, disinterest for xbox360 can be argued as true by some, IF it has reached the maturity stage of the cycle or furthure down....but demand for new games should not be affected by it, simply because they are NEW products that has nothing o do with the other product cycles. Demand for MW2 will diminish as time goes but that has nothing to do with the platforms. That argument is flawed.
