Well it's not unlike people to get lost in the hype of a playthrough with a game. There are lots of games I've played and thought were amazing, and after it settled in for awhile I thought less of it. Sometimes as gamers we need to let the experience soak in before we start making truth claims I suppose.
I do think we should use it a little less, but different tastes for many. There are some out there that might think those are some of the best games ever (and I could concur on most accept for KZ2). I just would also hope these people would respect other's opinions and tastes and not create a topic out of it every time it happens. A little modesty goes a long way.
