I don't think 'casual' gamers mind if a game is hard, but the difficulty should ramp up AFTER they already have a good hold of things. If the 'price of entry' is too steep, they won't bother going in.

The thing is that while actually figuring out how to beat a monster takes a learning curve, just running around with the weapon is relatively easy. Many so-called casual gamers never even get far in games, but still have fun with them.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
