decent sales, decent reviews, still, i don't get the hype

.......wow...

?

consider the number of articles in this website about Heavy Rain

then compare that number to the facts HV is a million seller with a metacritic score of 87

then you'll understand my post

VGChartz and/or Internet =/= Real World.

You can't use the hype from here and try to translate it into a reason as to why the game didn't do excellent, the game far surpassed Quantic Dreams expectations, that alone makes the sales way above "decent".

Relativley to Quantic Dreams precedent games Heavy Rain did sell way more than decent indeed.

Also we need to see that Quantic Dream is a dev team anywhere between 11-50 employees in size and I would guess it is probably around the 30-35 mark. The game was in development for anywhere between 4-5 years so if we go high end and say they make 100k/year we are talking around 25M total for a 50 man project over a 5 year span, which I am pretty sure it isn't.

I am pretty sure the game already broke even and/or is beginning to show overall profit.

Correct me my maths are wrong.

Dev size I found here: http://www.linkedin.com/companies/quantic-dream

Dev time was figured seeing as how it was first shown at E3 2006, so I tacked on a year to a year and a half possible for any work that may have been done prior to E3, although this work was probably done without the full staff.
