I'd also like to add that ITS HALFLIFE 2!!! That game is so old!!! Why in god's name can't they get it to run flawlessly on the PS3 ><; Why is EA the only company having these problems LOL

HL2 is a few years old, but Episode 2 is only two months old. They didn't just use exactly the same engine, they added plenty of effects, used much more detailed textures, models, and shaders, and had a lot more enemies on the screen at once. Here's a quote from the article:

While framerate issues aren't as problematic in Half-Life 2 and Episode One, Episode Two suffers a great deal, especially during the episode's larger battles.

So it seems they didn't have much trouble getting HL2 to run, the problems were mainly in EP2.

It seems to me that the team that ported the Orange Box to PS3 didn't do a good job of optimizing the Source engine for PS3. The line you quoted from the review basically implies that there are issues in HL2 and Episode One but they are more infrequent. The newer games like Portal, TF2, and Episode 2 have much more frequent problems. I am guessing since the older games don't push the Source engine as much the problems rarely present themselves.
