The difference between a cult and a religion is about 150-200 years. That's long enough for not only the founder, but also everyone who knew the founder personally, to be gone. A cult -held together mainly by the personal charisma of its leader- will disintegrate fairly quickly under such circumstances, while a religion -held together mainly by philosophical insight- will survive that setback.
The problem is, it's impossible to tell which is which before that amount of time has passed. Both cults and religions (and political movements, for that matter) need charismatic leaders to get off the ground, and this tends to make them indistinguishable as long as that leader is alive. Exceptions can exist -mostly dealing with cases where the actual founding of the movement is documented and verifiable- but neither cults nor religions tend to leave such documentation around.
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
