Actually I have seen tons of Red Steel adverts in the UK. And I hardly even watch adverts thanks to Sky +. So if the game hasn't sold well in UK it certainly isn't down to lack of TV advertising. |
Thanks for the perspective from the UK-it seems that you guys are the most focused demo for core titles after perhaps the US. The reason I started off this topic with a specific mention against using ads as an example is because we in the Americas never get them either. Bad Wii advertising seems to be global, which suggests to me the ills of 'core in Others is not linked at this specifically. I for instance, being the quintessential lazy TV watching American have yet to see a RS2 ad. Nor did I ever see one for Silent Hill in the months since it's release, yet both titles while still selling embarrassingly bad considering their quality managed to sell 4x as much on opening week in the regions compared.
Another thing that keeps getting brought up is that the Wii is purchased as a family console and not for the core. Again I challenge you to tell me why that is different between the regions? As we can all see (from sales) the Wii audience in the Americas is also casual oriented, but not in such an extreme way.
I would suggest that perhaps there is a cultural difference between the regions, but yet again the variety of Others really prevents me from making such a conclusion.
Without insulting the great comments so far I would argue that no one has really provided a reason that is exclusive to Others and not to the Wii scene in general. So I ask once again:
Why would owners in Others be more casually oriented considering that they receive the same (almost none) promotion as the Americas?
That said it seems distribution is a difficulty, but I would be curious to hear from others if this is just in certain areas or if it is a general problem.

Interesting. It seems to be a big problem in all regions, but perhaps the poor distribution componds this problem?

Try telling that to Democrats, lol! |
I think you might be surprised how much money there would be to spend if it wasn't being burned sending our troops off to die in random oil fueled wars against people who could care less about us. But hey killing random brown people is always better than helping our fellow countrymen get basic needs like heathcare eh? If we incur debt I for one would prefer it be for good rather than evil- but that's just me. Sorry if that makes me a Commie, but it also lets me sleep at night.
